Erste Ergebnisse der Kanaloplastik in Griechenland

Argyropoulos T
Thessaloniki (Griechenland)

Canaloplasty is a new, non-perforating glaucoma procedure, which ensures a well-controlled outflow of the aqueous humour trough the
Descemet’s window and drains it back to the physiological route, i.e. Schlemm’s canal and collectors, preventing the collapse of them. In
this way are avoided the two main sources of problems connected to fistulating procedures: The fistula and the bleb. In other words ca-
naloplastie’s complications are few and not serious. In this paper are presented our results and experience of the first 16 cases (12 CLPs
and 4 Phaco-CLPs): Mean follow up time 8.5 months. Preoperative mean IOP was 28.8 mm Hg and medication 3.6 substances. Target
IOP equal or below 20 mm Hg. Postoperative mean IOP 15.3 mm Hg and medication 0.6 substances. We reach the goal in all of our cases,
in 12 without any medication and in 4 with medication (1 – 3 sub-stances).
